My Absence

The last couple of months have not been pleasant for me.  I had some medical issues crop up that waylaid me and I'm only now beginning to feel even remotely normal.  

That said, I'm hoping to return to the world of Lux Tenebrous soon.

Actually, I'm hoping to return to any kind of writing soon.

I feel like I should do something here to note the number, but I can't think of anything right now.

Swords overhead

Good afternoon, gentle readers!

So, October has been a lazy month for me, at least as far as blogging goes.  After last month's blog-o-thon, it feels quite decadent to post an entry when I feel like it, and not because I HAVE to. 

Sadly, while my blogging life has become sedate and lazy, my personal life has not.  I've had all sorts of things happening this month that have kept me on the go.

I swear, some days I've felt like that baby from the bible story. Y'all know the one? Two women go before Solomon, both claiming a baby belongs to them.  Solomon resolves the situation by ordering his guard to cut the baby in half.  Immediately one of the women gives up the child. Solomon, of course, gives the child to this women, as he reasons only the mother would give up the child to save it.

I feel like that child. Pulled in multiple directions, with the threat of a great, bloody sword hanging over my head.

I shall not go into the details here, but suffice to say, I'm under a little stress.

Just a smidge.

A chocolate bar's worth of stress, instead of a bottle of vodka level of stress.

But it's consistent.

Still, I persevere. Or try to.

On that note, I'd like to thank everyone who's bought one of my stories in the last month or so. I appreciate your patronage and hope you've enjoyed the stories.

Gentle readers, as I write this, the blog has just wracked up 3400 pageviews.  Thanks to everyone for all the support, visits, shares and good vibes.  Honestly. This could not have happened without the assistance of all of you.

Heartfelt

Hello, gentle readers, and welcome to another fine Monday. I hope you had a good weekend, because I certainly did.

I got my first check from Amazon.

It was not a huge check.

I cannot suddenly retire to an Italian villa overlooking the Mediterranean, or anything, but it has provided me with an eerie sense of validation.

When I opened the envelope, I had this Sally Fields-like moment: "They like me! They really, really like me!"

Of course, being the soul of dignity, I did not tear up or anything like that.

And I know that I should not need the sales of my stories to validate myself as a person or a writer, but as I’m being very honest here, I have to admit that it helps. I’ve never been particularly insecure about my writing, not until my most recent project, but it’s gratifying that complete strangers find my work interesting enough to purchase. It gives one a nice little ego boost.

So I want to take this opportunity to say "Thank you!" to everyone who has downloaded my stories. You’ve pretty much made me feel like a real writer.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I have something in my eye. . . .
