Vasta Ramanon is a half-elf woman and influential member of General Fulcrys of Mountgate’s Inner Circle.  Vasta has served with Fulcrys for over ten years and he trusts her implicitly. She, for her part, genuinely respects the general and his efforts to restore Mountgate. However, Vasta has no particular loyalty to Fulcrys or Mountgate.  Her only loyalty is to herself, which may be the reason that the Veil has reached out to her. The Veil is interested in replacing Fulcrys with someone who would be a little more receptive to their overtures. They believe Vasta is that person. Vasta has formed a tentative agreement with the Veil, recognizing that the general is squeezing Mountgate so hard that it is about to slip out of his control. She can think of worse persons than herself to catch the city before it falls again and she’s worked with the Veil before, so knows that their approaching her out of enlightened self-interest. She’s also certain they have approached other people around Mountgate with similar offers. As they are playing the odds, Vasta is as well. She’s quietly approached some of the Inner Circle, men and women with ambitions of their own, and has begun to feel them out. Vasta is probably more aware than anyone else of the factions taking shape in Mountgate and how very close the city is to exploding into violence.  Whatever happens, whichever way things fall, Vasta will be prepared to survive.
